Gerald Dickens - Meet and Greet
Have you got a burning questions for Charles Dickens Great Great Grandson? Or have you always wondered how Charles himself would have been back in the day? Any questions you have, big or small, Gerald Dickens himself will be here to answer.

Performing Doctor Marigold
Doctor Marigold was one of Charles Dickens most popular readings. The Doctor of the title is a market Cheap Jack, named in honour of a doctor who assisted at his birth. On the surface he is a trader with a rapid sales-patter, but underneath there lays a story both moving and heartbreaking. Although little known today, Dr Marigold still moves audiences as it did in Charles’ day

Play on Words Theatre Company – performing exerts from The Pickwick Papers
A bite sized version done at a whirlwind pace and full of fun.
In twenty minutes flat this action packed, madcap street theatre features the characters and themes of one of Dicken’s most loved stories.
Allow this award winning Medway based theatre company to share with you the very core, the very essence of this classic tale.
You’ll be left wanting ‘MORE’!

Travelling to the Dickens Festival:

Car and coach parking
Limited car parking is available near the centre of Rochester and at the Civic Centre, Strood which is only a short walk away.

The Rochester multi-storey car park provides 321 bays and 18 disabled bays for long stay parking ideal for visitors, shoppers and commuters using the new Rochester Station.

Coach parking is free and coaches may use the drop-off and pick-up points. Please email visitor.centre@medway.gov.uk if you are planning on bringing a coach.

Rochester train station is only a short walk from Rochester High Street and has excellent links between London and the coast. For information on planning your journey visit the South Eastern website.
